About Us
Arising out of discussions at a reunion of training staff in 2000, it was decided to form the SA Retired Ambulance Officer’s Association Inc. This name was changed in 2009 to reflect our relationship with SA Ambulance Service (SAAS) and to include anyone who had worked with the Service.
The objects of our Association are best described in four broad ways:
- To provide welfare and caring support for members, a sympathetic presence when there is a death in the family, and the opportunity to gather for fellowship.
- To provide an environment for ongoing social contact and support,
- To preserve the history of the ambulance service in South Australia (formerly St John and then SAAS) through the writing and publication of literature and the collection of manuals and equipment, and to act as the custodian of old ambulances,
- And lastly, to maintain a supportive relationship with SAAS and provide assistance with special projects requested by the Chief Executive of SAAS.
Our membership consists of former employees and partners (non voting) from all fields of SAAS operations, both permanent and volunteers.
